2020 Stow Lake Stampede Update - Race Cancelled
We have been closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation in San Francisco, which has been evolving daily and sometimes hourly. We are very disappointed to have to cancel our March 29th race in light of the requirements for social distancing to protect our vulnerable populations. We are making this decision out of respect for the health and well being of the greater community. It does not appear likely that we will be able to find an alternative date for 2020 that works with Golden Gate Park availability and the USATF Pacific Association’s racing schedule. Click on the icon at left for information on deferring your entry to 2021 or converting your entry fee to a donation. We look forward to seeing you next year to celebrate healthy bodies and running strong at Stow Lake Stampede 2021. -- Impala Racing Team |
The race is open to runners and walkers of all ages and abilities. However, PA USAT&F membership is required for prize money payouts**. Post-race festivities will take place near the Conservatory of Flowers in Peacock Meadow, in Golden Gate Park. With the help of our generous sponsors and the tireless work of the Impala Racing Team, this will be a race to remember! The Impala Racing Team The Impala Racing Team is an all-women elite development racing team based in San Francisco. Founded in 1979, the team consists of members from recent college graduates to women in their 70s. We are a close-knit group of women (and coaches) that support and encourage each other in and beyond racing. More than a team, we are a "family" that, through running, has extended friendships beyond our age groups, lifestyles and professions. We are a community-sourced, volunteer-driven 501(c)3 non-profit organization and a PA USAT&F sanctioned club. Each year, we send teams to nationally known races such as the Boston Marathon and the US Club Cross Country Nationals. We are proud to have had Impalas compete in every US Olympic Marathon Trials. |
Back on My Feet The Impala Racing Team is excited to donate a portion of our race proceeds to Back on My Feet, which combats homelessness through the power of running, community support and essential employment and housing resources. Its unique running-based model demonstrates that if you first restore confidence, strength and self-esteem, individuals are better equipped to tackle the road ahead.
