Racing
At the core, we love to run fast.
Our main racing focus includes the Pacific Association USATF Grand Prix - an annual series of 10 to 12 road races, from the mile to the marathon - and the Pacific Association Cross Country Series. In each series, we accumulate points towards the grand prize at the end of the year. We’ve consistently won, or been top three in all divisions over the past several years.
The team also selects several additional focus races for the team to compete in regional and national events against some of the country's best runners. Focus races may be National Championships for different race distances or other competitive and high-caliber races throughout the country. Check out our race schedule for more information on where we'll be this year.

Training
A team that trains together, stays together.
Since its inception, the Impala Racing Team has stayed true to the intentions of its founders. Since 1979, we have shared blood, sweat, and tears, in a bond that that lasts a lifetime. Training together is an essential part of this bond. And it's fun, too!

Organized Impala workouts consist of intervals on the track or roads, XC workouts, and trail runs in the Bay area. Monthly workout schedules consist of a training plan designed to meet the season's goals.
We meet weekly on Tuesday nights for track workouts at Kezar Stadium in Golden Gate Park. After a short meeting, we warm-up for twenty minutes, typically followed by 3-6 miles of interval work on the track and finishing with a cool down. Intervals are timed and monitored by the coaches. During the summer months, the team holds practices at other locations in the park.
Occasional Saturday morning workouts may include tempo runs, hill repeats, or longer trail runs.
Many team members also meet in smaller groups during the rest of the week.
