Like the name says, we are a racing team... one of the country’s top women’s running teams in fact. For committed women runners we offer an alternative to training with the guys. Our coaches help the team and individuals set goals and then meet them through consistent and structured training.

Our main racing focus is the PA-USATF Grand Prix series - 10 to 12 races throughout the year, from 5K to marathon - where we accumulate points towards the grand prize at the end of the year.

We’ve consistently won, or been top three in all divisions over the past several years. In 2007, 2008 and 2009 we won the Road Grand Prix Series in the every age group division, which includes open, masters, senior and super-senior divisions. In 2008 and 2009 we won the open, masters and senior divisions in the cross country series!

Along with the PA series, the team races at various national-level competitive races. In the past we’ve sent teams to Boston (2005 team champs!), Grandmas’, Twin Cities (champs here too!) and Chicago Marathons, Tufts 10k, Friehofer’s 5K. In 2006, Impalas open teams placed 2nd at both Boston and Chicago marathons. Recently, we had four members participate in the 2008 Olympic Marathon Trials and we already have three members qualified to run in the 2012 Olympic marathon trials!

In the Spring, we add fun but optional track meets to the schedule for those members who yearn for the oval. In 2010 the team will be competing at the USATF National Club Track and Field Championships here in San Francisco, as well as the USATF Masters Track and Field Championships in Sacramento.

And in the Fall, there’s always a large group that competes in the PA’s Cross Country Series and the USATF National Club Cross Country Championship. In 2008 and 2009, our masters and seniors, respectively, won the national title.
