The Impalas are a close-knit group of women (and coaches) that support and encourage each other in and beyond racing. We are not just a team, but a “family” that through running have extended friendships beyond our age groups, lifestyles and professions.
We are a large team (over 100 members), some of whom are the region’s top competitors. Our extraordinary coaching and the level of attention that each member receives requires us to limit membership in order to maintain a quality experience for all. As a result, we invite new members to join use for practices during two member periods each year – Winter (January/February) and Summer (July/August). Applications are due November 21st for the Winter session and May 21st for the Summer session.
If you are interested in joining the Impalas, we’d like to hear from you. Please fill out the online New Member Application or contact the New Member Coordinator at impalamembership@gmail.com for more information.
Types of members:
Active members are those who train consistently with
the team and receive coaching from our coaches on a regular basis. Impalas
who are unable to train with the team or receive coaching (due to distance
or injury) but who race for and/or support and contribute to the team
in other ways are Affiliate (supporting) members. Student
members are those who are enrolled full time in school. Honorary memberships
are granted to members on a case-by-case basis.
Active, Student and Honorary
members enjoy the benefit of training with other active members at scheduled
workouts, coaching from our coaches, paid or subsidized hotel rooms at
“away” races and other Sponsor benefits such as reduced price
Nike shoes and uniforms, discounts from MetroSport and free Powerbar products.
Annual dues are used to pay for our coaches, PA-USATF dues, some race
entry fees, team travel, Impala parties, our newsletter, website and general
administrative costs. Currently our dues are $250/year with a discount for race participation.
Affiliate and student members pay reduced dues. The Board of Directors
will also make arrangements for financial hardship on a case-by-case basis.
